5 Survey Calculators, Explained

Bearing & Distance

Compute the bearing and distance between two points, or find a destination point from a start, bearing, and distance.

Traverse Calculator

Compute station coordinates from a sequence of bearing/distance legs, with closure checking and Bowditch adjustment.

Area & Perimeter

Type in a boundary's coordinates directly and get accurate area and perimeter — for quick field-sketch calculations.

Chainage / Stationing

Generate regular station points along a road, pipeline, or canal alignment, with cumulative chainage.

Offset / Parallel Line

Generate a parallel line at a fixed perpendicular distance — for right-of-way or setback boundaries.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I enter bearings as quadrant bearing or azimuth?

Both. Choose your input format (quadrant bearing like N45°30'E, or azimuth 0-360°), and results always show both formats together.

Does the Traverse Calculator check for closure errors?

Yes — for a closed traverse, it reports the linear misclosure distance, direction, and accuracy ratio, and can apply a Bowditch (compass rule) adjustment to close it.

Can I use Latitude/Longitude instead of Easting/Northing?

Yes — every calculator supports both. Geographic (lat/lon) coordinates are automatically reprojected to a local UTM zone for accurate real-world distance and area calculations.

Is this free to use for commercial or professional survey work?

Yes, free for any use. For larger survey projects or custom workflows, Sagarmekhla GIS Consultancy offers professional GIS and survey support services.

Need help with a larger survey or mapping project? Our team provides professional GIS, remote sensing, and spatial analysis services for government, research, and industry.
